My wildfire image was again rewarded at the end of 2025, this time taking home second place in the landscape & plants category of the 2025 National Wildlife Federation photography contest. Chosen from almost 30,000 entries, it was an incredible honor - with special meaning for me, as a child who grew up reading National Wildlife Federation’s “Ranger Rick” magazine. The winners were also published in USA Today, which made it even more special for me. You can find the article here, a gallery here, and the announcement on NWF’s website here.
My image, “Infernal Beauty” took home 3rd place (“highly commended”) in the 2025 Nature Photographer of the year contest in the Landscapes category. This photograph, depicting the aftermath of a forest during a wildfire, being honored among almost 25,000 images entered into the contest is incredibly humbling. In 2024, I again took home an honorable mention in the international Monochrome Awards contest for the best of black and white photography. This year, my bald eagle portrait, titled “American Icon”, which I captured earlier in the year on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, was recognized. You can find the image in their 2024 wildlife category winner’s gallery and published in their 2024 awards book.
My image of a black vulture, pictured below, which I titled “Guardian of the Dark”, was awarded an honorable mention in the 2023 Monochrome Awards - an international contest recognizing the best in black & white photography. You can find the image in their 2023 wildlife category winner’s gallery and published in their 2023 awards book.
